Saint-Gobain helps to build the Royal Atlantis in Dubai

Our solutions are incorporated in Dubai latest stunning architectural project

High performance products and systems from Saint-Gobain brands across the UAE have helped in the creation of one of Dubai’s largest and most distinctive developments.

The new $1.4 billion Royal Atlantis Resort and Residences on the crescent of The Palm. The 42-storey, 5-star hotel and residential development, by world- leading architects KPF, provides over 1000 guest rooms and serviced residences with amenities that include a sky garden, 90m high infinity pool and a range of restaurants and water experiences, all bordering a 1.7km private beach.

The sheer scale and complexity of the project demanded the combined skills and experience of a number of Saint-Gobain UAE brands to provide solutions for everything from repair and bedding of the structural concrete frame to floor levelling and screeds, and internal linings and partitions, to waterproofing for the level 22 Skypool, insulation of the HVAC ducting systems and external hard landscaping. Industrial mortar specialists, Saint-Gobain Weber, provided bedding and concrete repair products, self-levelling and screed compounds for hotel and apartment floors and balconies, waterproofing and tile fixing solutions for the level 22 Skypool, and more than 2500 tons of specialist grouts and adhesives for the external hard landscaping. To provide compartmentation and fire protection levels in key public areas like ground floor parking, basement retail areas & dining areas, Vetrotech Saint-Gobain supplied 120 minutes Integrity & Radiation Fire rated ContraFlam® Lite and 60 minutes Integrity & Insulation fire rated Contraflam 60-3 safety glass in 3m high glazed fire doors and side partition applications.

The internal linings and partitions provided a major challenge, due to the complex performance requirements, exceptional finishing standards and mix of flat and curved structures need to achieve the architect’s vision. Experts from Saint-Gobain Gyproc worked with the design team to provide a complete internal lining package which involved most of the company’s products and systems, including high performance Gyproc CLASSIC and Gyproc QUIET partitions and specialist Gyproc plasterboards for enhanced acoustic, moisture, impact-resistance and fire resisting applications on the hotels flat and curved walls, and Gyproc MF ceilings in single and double layer configurations. Finally, insulation specialist KIMMCO-ISOVER were challenged to provide thermal and sound insulation for the complex’s extensive HVAC systems. After discussions with the MEP contractor they provided environment-friendly Aluglass-faced duct insulation and acoustic duct liners, valued in excess of AED 1.95 million, for all HVAC ductwork throughout the complex.

Saint-Gobain technical and training teams provided extensive on and off-site technical advice and installer training, from initial design through to system installation, to ensure that all products could be installed quickly and efficiently to meet the project’s demanding technical standards and completion date.
